EPA Modernizes Implementation of the Audit Policy
July 8, 2015 - Kestrel Management
Issued in 2000, the EPA’s Audit Policy and Small Business Compliance Policy offer penalty mitigation and other incentives for companies that discover, promptly disclose, and expeditiously correct environmental violations, and take steps to prevent future violations.
On June 10, 2015, the EPA confirmed its support for self-auditing by announcing changes to the Audit Policy implementation process. The heart of the change is adoption of a centralized electronic reporting process, referred to as the “eDisclosure Portal,” which is designed to efficiently collect and process violations disclosed to EPA under its self-disclosure policies.
